Exploring AI spend
Use Explore to see which providers, models, developers, and applications drive your AI costs. The chart shows costs over time. The breakdown shows how much each group adds to the total.
Build a view
- Choose a date range and cost mode.
- Select the connections in Source. You can also narrow the view by Provider.
- Use Add filter to focus on the developers, teams, models, applications, or other details you want to check. Team, customer, agent, feature, and your own attribution keys are under Tag.
- Use Add breakdown to group the results. For example, combine Team and Model to compare the models each team uses.
- Choose Daily, Weekly, or Monthly to group the chart by day, week, or month.
The page URL includes your selections. Copy it to share the view with another member of your organization.
Billed and Notional costs

Until you choose a cost mode, Explore opens on the one that has spend: Notional when only usage data exists, and Billed otherwise. Your choice is then kept in the page URL.
The two modes are separate views of activity. Do not add them together. For example, if an organization pays a fixed subscription fee for a coding tool, a developer's notional usage shows the value of their consumption. It is not an extra charge on top of that fee.
Billed and Notional can differ because of subscriptions, discounts, delays in provider reports, different prices, and gaps in collected usage data. Check both the source and date range before comparing a dashboard number with an invoice.
Choose a useful breakdown

The details you can use to group costs depend on the integration. Attribution keys, such as team or your application's own keys, appear only when the selected period has data for them. A provider may report costs for an account without identifying developers. Application usage data may include customer and feature details that a billing API does not have. An unattributed value means the source did not provide or identify that detail. It does not mean the usage was free.
Metered costs change with usage. Subscription costs are fees you have already committed to pay. This difference matters when checking savings. Reducing notional usage covered by a subscription may not reduce the next bill.
Investigate a change
Start with the date range containing the increase and break down by Provider or Integration. Narrow the view to the source driving the change, then add Model, App, or Developer where that detail is available.
Before deciding why costs dropped, check when the connection last synced or received data. Missing data can look like a saving. If several integrations track the same activity, review cost overlaps.
Why is the chart empty?
Clear filters, widen the date range, and check the selected sources. A connection that only collects usage data may have Notional costs without Billed costs. A new billing connection may still be waiting for its first successful sync or for the provider to publish data.
Anthropic spend CSVs have totals for the whole report period, not daily costs. The chart total covers dated spend, and CSV report totals appear separately below the chart.
